HEADNODIC – ‘DIRTY DIAMONDS’ REMIX
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Ok, so I know I just discovered his music but I’m totally head over heels in love with what I’ve heard so far. Totally hooked on this bearded man!
Sorry, y’all. Just buggin’ out over this mad talented whitey tightey!
Headnodic’s the name — a producer from Oakland who just released his Red Line Radio LP, marking his full length debut as a headlining artist.
And since I posted a few more heavy-hitting ballads yesterday, I thought this track was a perfect gem to toss into the mix, to switch up moods.

He’s pretty cute, no? Google him!
FAT INDIAN KID WERKS/TWERKS/JERKS!

Some days I hate the internet.
This is NOT one of those days!
At first glance, I thought this was a midget sumo wrestler. I know that’s not PC but whatever — it’s the truth, so deal wid it! Then I pressed play and realized that this poor child has been watching way too many episodes of Jersey Shore, Taj Mahal edition. Or something just as ridiculous.
Yup. It’s pretty much awesome wrapped in bacon and dipped in chocolate.

MET FREAKIN’ HEIDI KLUM TONIGHT!!!
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Fashion’s Night Out in NYC is no joke! At the beginning of the night, my mantra was simple: As long as no one gets stabbed in da eye with a high heel, all is well.
Highlights:
-L’Oréal Paris spraying so much hairspray I could’ve sworn that if a cig was turned in the wrong direction someone’s ass would’ve been tickled. And by tickled, I mean torched.
-Seeing DJ Pauly D in SoHo. For real, I think you could crack an egg on that hairdo of his. It’s harder than a 2×4. Wait, that didn’t sound right.
-Meeting Heidi Klum!!!
-The original ‘Back to the Future’ car on display at Nike. I mean, how awesome is that? Uber-awesome. Duh.
Ok, back to Heidi for a second…
Yeah, oddly enough we met Heidi at QVC’s party! Who knew QVC would have the coolest party tonight?! Who knew QVC even had parties? Not I! But for real, it was swanky, chic and hella fun. Kathy Griffin was there, too. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to meet Kathy as she was busy being a ham with the press (go fig).
My only beef is spotting Marina & the Diamonds and watching her disappear before I could say hello. She was in attendance at Beth Ditto’s set at MAC Cosmetics. I’ve been writing about her long before she developed a buzz for herself and her music and I just wanted to tell her that. I love her work. Oh well, next time!
All in all, a night of epic proportions (but mainly size zeros — next year, someone needs to hand out deep fried twinkies)!

Also, never shut down your Southern Hospitality restaurant because A. I like to get fat here on the weekends (hello, Southern fried goodness — it tastes like home!) and B. the “Mason Dixon” Red Velvet Cheesecake is better than sex. K? Thanks.

PUSSYCAT DANCES TO BRITNEY SPEARS

Yeaaah. As if it’s not obvious, I’m in a quirky, random mood today. And after the Justin Timberlake overload situation (see post above), I started to fantasize about the day JT and BS would get back together and I stumbled upon this cute clip.

UNDER STROBE LIGHTS W/ JUNIOR BOYS
By: Caitlin Hoffman
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Back to the eighties! We’re talking big hair, leg warmers, and mega synthetic pop. No, I’m not suggesting a time machine. I’m talking about Junior Boys. They manage the time warp all on their own.
I’d rather a walk on the dark side of the moon than chew a stick of bubblegum, but these boys are good for when I’m taking a break from the gloom. And they’re not pure bubblegum, anyways. More like fresh peppermint under strobe lights.
The swoonable vocals make me think Justin Timberlake. The synth additions scream Culture Club. And the trancey underbeat sets me into a placid meditation, a state wherein I could dance and dance and never get tired.
They’re touring right now, and admittedly, I’m not sure they’re tasty enough to spend a ticket on. But when I go to a concert, I’m expecting headbanging, crowd surfing and nothing less. Something tells me that’s not the vibe going on at their shows.
They may not be number one in my heart, but they could make it to number one on the charts. Will they?
EARTHQUAKE REALNESS FT. PIXIE LOTT
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Honestly, I thought these types of things only happened to those stupid enough to live in LA. Right? Earthquakes in New York, really? What’s next? Sunshine in Seattle?!
The only way I’d ever be ok with earthquakes is if Jake Gyllenhaal is by my side protecting me from the elements like in The Day After Tomorrow! If there’s any way to go, it would be helpful to have a real, genuine, loving, non-douchey ball of scruff by your side.
On a serious note, my company was located in the Twin Towers on 9/11 before moving to Brooklyn after the attack. So you can imagine how some of the people were feeling in the office when the ground started to shake. Hearing those people talk about that day on 9/11, how they managed to get out of the towers was terrifying but beautiful. Most spoke of how they thought it was an earthquake as well. It certainly left a yearning in the pit of my stomach and made me want to pick up the phone and spill my heart to a few people.

BEYONCE GETS INTIMATE WITH ‘4′ SHOWCASE, ROSELAND BALLROOM [VIDS]
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Some people’s lives are changed in normal ways — ya know, graduating college, buying a home, plopping out a baby. But me? My life was changed this weekend at a Beyonce concert.
Not just any Beyonce concert, mind you. This concert was the real deal — Beyonce, like she’s never been seen before, in an intimate setting, a small venue to truly capture the bootylicious essence we all know and love. But beyond the dance numbers, Beyonce’s heart and soul came bursting through and by the end of the show — when she sang my personal favorite ‘I Was Here’ — I found myself moved to tears.
I feel so blessed to have a part of such an intimate rare Beyonce experience.
The night was taped and will be released on an upcoming DVD/TV special I do believe.
And as expected, the show was absolutely incredible.
Watch some videos I shot from the show below.
I hope each of you get a chance to see this woman perform live once in your lifetime.
And oh! I guess I should also point out that Sir Paul McCartney was in attendance and even gave Bey a standing ovation. Get it, gurl! Even royalty is taking notice of your brilliance.

‘LOVE SLAYER’ BY JOE JONAS, SLAYS?
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

When Joe Jonas released his first solo single, See No More, I was ranting like a loon over the track and even wrote a little piece in which I spoke on the possibility of Joe filling Timberlake’s pop shoes. But after hearing the new single, I’m beginning to question my original stance.
New single Love Slayer may eventually rub off and I might even find myself eating these words, but for now, the track falls a little short in my opinion. I like the Prince-like edge to this song — and maybe I will like it more once I hear the studio version and/or see Joe looking like, well, Joe in the music video — but for now, I think the song/performance needs a little fine tuning.
I think Joe is doing an awesome job and I’m a big fan, I just think he’s finding his niche and beginning to feel comfortable in his own skin as a solo artist. And that’s totally understandable.
Watch a recent live performance of the new single below.
Do you think Love Slayer slays?
JUDGING BY ADAM LEVINE’S TEENY PANTS, HIS EGO ISN’T BIG AFTER ALL
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Everyone (and their blind grandma) knows that Adam Levine is a sexy little thang, but a lesser known fact is how he fits into some of the pants he puts on, especially the itsy bitsy teeny weeny pair worn in the new Moves Like Jagger video. I mean, those leggings are so tight, I’m surprised he didn’t have to call up Carmen Carrera from RuPaul’s Drag Race for some quick tips on tucking!
Gurl, you fine as all get out so we gonna let it slide…
Besides, the pants could’ve been tighter. Mick Jagger, hello!
All joking aside, this video is pretty damn awesome. The styling and overall execution is on the money, and the art direction is fresh.

‘LAST FRIDAY NIGHT’ GETS MISSY’D
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Rapper and bad ass music mogul Missy Elliott has stepped back into the spotlight in a slightly unexpected pairing, collaborating with Ms. Purry for the remix of Last Friday Night. The choice to add Missy to the mixture is a smart one, giving the teenage dream pop single a bit more of an urban edge. Street cred, what what.

MANDY MOORE & THE SISSY POP VAULT
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

This all started with a crush. So, being the teenage girl that I am sometimes, I started to play some good old fashioned sissy pop. It’s a new genre I made up! It basically consists of all the cutesy girl pop tunes that can be played at Claire’s or any High School Prom. And that’s where Mandy Moore comes in…
In the process of digging into my sissy pop vault I remembered the song I Wanna Be With You. Quickly, I took to YouTube and found my way through a collection of Mandy Moore hits, including a few I’ll be playing today.
What I realized though, is that Mandy Moore was ahead of her time. No, not Candy or the first and second release (those were pretty typical of commercial music at the time), but her self-titled third album, when she was given more creative freedom. I remember when the video for In My Pocket was released and knowing that it was a very innovative, unique video of the time. Teen pop, if you will, was all about the cliche, and Mandy Moore began to really break the walls down — once she was given the chance to do so. Especially with this album. In all honesty, it’s a hidden gem.
I especially love the song Saturate Me (which you’re about to hear) — it’s a poetically dope record!
Now, if only she would stop being a folkie and get back to her pop roots!
CHIDDY BANG DROPS FEEL GOOD SONG OF THE SUMMER: ‘MIND YOUR MANNERS’
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Ever take a big lick from an ice cream cone and instantly feel hooked? That’s exactly how I felt within seconds of listening to Chiddy Bang’s new single, Mind Your Manners. The chirpy children’s choir laced up with a sugar beat make for a delicious treat. (Hey! That rhymed!)
The alternative hip hop band has developed a sound that fuses hip hop + alternative, sampling from artists such as Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens, Passion Pit, MGMT, and Yelle.
Listen to the track + watch a live performance of the diddy following…
Then rinse & repeat.
