PINK, KATY, & NELLY FURTADO DONATE OLD KICKERS FOR LANDMINE CHARITY
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Joke, people. Joke.
More than 60 celebrities have donated a pair of shoes for MAG (Mines Advisory Group) — an organization that helps those affected by landmines. Each pair will be auctioned to raise money for the cause. Great news, right?
Of course it is, but I’ve got to be honest. As I was looking over the shoes being donated, I laughed a little. I effing love Pink for donating a pair from Aldo. Really, Pink? Aldo?! That store is in pretty much every mall across America, you think she would’ve gave up something a bit more exclusive. I kid, I kid. Kinda.
In all fairness though, the Aldo pair from Pink, in many ways, most likely corresponds with her normal, highly genuine, down-to-earth, anti-celebrity view of a lifestyle? Which is one reason why I think the chick is awesome.
The main point is that these shoes will most likely raise money and awareness to a cause that deserves our attention, and that’s never a bad thing. All the shoes are cool, I just had to share that rant.
To see the shoes being donated click here.
Will you bid for a pair of these kickers or donate a few bucks to the cause and go to your local mall instead?
And for shits and giggles (someone care to explain this expression to me?), take a flashback tour to Pink’s God Is a DJ, below.
ROBYN RELEASES ‘HANG WITH ME’ VID + MELTS HEARTS W/ LIVE PERFORMANCE
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Robyn has just released the music video for her brand new single Hang with Me. The video takes fans behind the scenes of Robyn’s touring life. But don’t worry, it’s not the typical video we’ve all seen before, this behind-the-scenes vid was directed by Max Vitali and is shot in an original manner that holds your attention, each shot a photograph all its own. There’s also live performance footage, studio time shots, and other promotional specks, like a fan signing and radio interview. If you look close enough you will also see BTB fave I Blame Coco.
Hang with Me is the lead single from Robyn’s second album (Body Talk Pt. 2) of a three part trilogy.
Robyn described the song as: “Pop should be seductive and sweet when it can. And I felt like I could be on Hang with Me, in a uncompromising way. It’s like a sweet and sour bon-bon wrapped in melancholy.”
The new album will be released September 6th.
Watch the music video followed by a beautiful live acoustic performance, below.
Robyn recently performed at London’s Rimmel Room and as usual, her acoustic renditions overflowed with emotion, sure to melt hearts. Watch my favorite number (Dancing On My Own) from Body Talk Pt. 1, below.
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: POWERLIFTER
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

I recently interviewed the insanely infectious POWERLIFTER (an up & coming 8-bit band from Wichita, Kansas). Check out the highlights below.
ROB BRAYL: What’s the deal with the name, Powerlifter? Do tell.
MARTIN SWIGGART for Powerlifter: We decided to name the band POWERLIFTER because Matthew’s (vocalist) dad used to be a powerlifter when he was younger. We thought it was a pretty triumphant name for a band.
RB: Many elements are used to make up music, but not everyone would agree a Gameboy is one of them. How did the idea of using the Gameboy in your music develop?
MS: I used to have my own band (Martendo) about three years ago in which I made 8-bit sounds in a computer program. One night Matthew and I were drinking and hanging out and I showed the songs to him. He fell in love and told me about how there are people who use old computer systems and gaming devices to make music. I instantly researched and figured out how to use the Gameboy.
RB: There’s several crotch shots in your music video for Buffalo. Alcohol and crazy dancing, too. Clearly the point of the video is pure fun, eh?
MS: [Laughs] Pretty much. We do love to party and have fun. When we were talking about video ideas I told them I wanted a party video like in those late ’90s teen high school movies. The parties you always wanted to go to because it looked so fun. I think in the end we did a pretty good job at achieving that.
RB: The video and the sound coming from Powerlifter is so Brooklyn. Any New York shows in the future? Tour?
MS: Oh really? Didn’t know we were “Brooklyn” — that’s pretty awesome. As of yet we do not have any New York shows. We are about to go on a short tour to play the Gen Con convention. So yes, tour is a big part of our future. We’d love to make it up to New York.
RB: Be random. Tell us something we should know about the band and the music you’re proud to be a part of.
MS: We have an alter ego named Annoying Dead Best Friend. We want to start a restaurant called Blue-BQ. Where everything in the restaurant is white and the BBQ is blue. We are also in the works for shooting three/four more videos and working on a dvd. Currently writing/recording an EP for an Italy release on COUCOU net Label. I’m proud of this band because we always have fun when we play and hang out and encourage you to have fun with us.

MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE: TAIO CRUZ’S EXPLOSIVE STICK OF ‘DYNAMITE’
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Taio Cruz!
I wasn’t sure the British singer-songwriter could top the addictive hook of his massive single Break Your Heart (ft. Ludacris), but he’s proved us all wrong with a new stick of addictive pop dynamite.
The feel-good dance track is taken from his 2009 CD Rokstarr. In the explosive just-released video, Cruz can be seen around babes in mechanic outfits, big trucks, wrecked cars, and sticks of dynamite, of course. Cruz even cruises around on a 1000cc-speed bike.
Cruz told MTV about the track: “The song ‘Dynamite’ itself is about when you go to the club and when you go to a party and when you’re just going out…you got to feel like, ‘I’m just gonna explode,’ — basically, we are going to represent that with just massive, massive, fireworks in the sky!”
Apparently, a remix of the song featuring Jennifer Lopez is expected to surface soon.

IAN CAREY’S DANCEFLOOR ERUPTION
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Ian Carey is one of the major players in the House music scene worldwide. If you have no idea who the dude is, blame American radio, which has never been a fan of house/techno genres or their offspring. And normally, I’m not the biggest fan of house or techno either, but when I stumbled upon this new release, I instantly noticed it’s appeal. It’s catchy as hell. Sure, it’s nothing we haven’t all seen or heard before, but the jam has a heavy beat, one that quickly jets into the soles of your shoes and even if you want to deny it, you’ll soon realize you can’t. It’s a fun dancefloor track that’s perfect for summer.
The just-released music video is the club edit of Carey’s new single Let Loose, which features vocals from Mandy Ventrice. Carey spoke to Biggie.co.nz on Ventrice, stating: “She’s a really good pop on key vocalist. She’s signing a deal at the moment with a big label, so you will be seeing her in the near future as a solo artist.”
Get ready to bust a move!

MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE GONE WILD FEAT. KYLIE MINOGUE
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

What do marshmallows, giant inflatable elephants, and whitey tighties have in common?
All of these random delights are seen in Kylie Minogue’s new video for All the Lovers. It’s a beautifully shot video, that even in its sexiness is actually about love. It’s seriously like a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade gone wild, delivered in a classy way that only Minogue could pull off.
All The Lovers is the first single off Minogue’s eleventh studio album, Aphrodite, which is set to release on July 6th. After more than 68 million records sold the 42-year-old looks better than ever, still full of light.
Says Kylie (regarding the song): “The single was one of the last tracks to be written for the album. As I was recording it I knew that ‘All the Lovers’ had to be the first single; it sums up the euphoria of the album perfectly. It gives me goose-bumps, so I’m really excited to hear what everyone thinks of it.”

NEW! NATASHA BEDINGFIELD’S TOUCH
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

One thing’s for certain: I love a Bedingfield. Natasha and her brother Daniel (which btw, where has he been hiding?) always create songs that are equally catchy as they are touching, fusing hooks with heartfelt lyrics.
This track is called Touch and the beat is definitely interesting, backed to a more electronic mix than what Bedingfield has gone for in the past. Even if Bedingfield is sporting a slightly new sound, she never strays away from showcasing her amazing vocals as she spews every line with the same soulful signature that fans are used to hearing.
Touch is the first taste of the British pop star’s forthcoming album, which is due in the fall of 2010. Since releasing her debut album in 2004, the former Christian music star has sold over 10 million records worldwide.
The specific release date and title for Natasha’s upcoming album are expected to be announced soon.

STOMPING BOREDOM W/ COBRA STARSHIP
By: Caitlin Hoffman
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Ah, hipster culture. Love it or hate it, we all know we can’t ignore it. Cobra Starship is one of those bands that add to its charming oddity, that spectacle you can’t take your eyes from. They have harnessed the hipster thrill, and used it to their advantage, all the time showing that it’s not a certain style or subculture that defines what you are, but a lasting joy for music and life that matters.
What is it about Cobra? Their energy, the spice in their music? Whatever it is, it’s oh so simple, and right in your face. All you have to do is take a look at their videos or a shot of the band on stage, and you’ll see that they’re a stallion with the reigns held back, ready to run wild.
They started out mashing it up in dear old New York, and are now seen partying with Fall Out Boy, and being humble enough to poke fun at their own rise to fame. Their first album tore up the charts in 2006, and their latest sizzled onto the shelves in 2009. As far as musical products go, Cobra Starship is fresh on the market.
They’re pretty rad, pretty cool, and just plain pretty, all about melding pop culture into their tunes and recreating the music scene. Like a splash of colour on a pop-art collage, they have a lovable tweak one can’t quite resist. Undeniably, they are a walking irony, with their wonderfully blatant message of satire stamped on their foreheads. Their motto is about being silly, having fun, and never, ever taking life too seriously.
Okay, so their music isn’t exactly a catalyst to deep thinking, but feisty frolicking is just their style, and they work it well. Their addiction to fun and ‘get up and go’ attitude is enough to make a whole crowd feel remarkable. And sometimes, when life is getting you down and the deadlines are wearing you thin, that’s all you need.
If dance music isn’t your thing, then they won’t sit comfortably in your ears. But if driving through lit up streets late at night and stomping boredom goodbye is your brand of tofu, then be sure to add them to your party playlist.
Put your dancing shoes on and get ready to blast off, because Cobra Starship has got it going on!
Spark it up with their video for Good Girls Go Bad, featuring Gossip Girl cutie Leighton Meester.
ROBYN PREMIERE: DANCING ON MY OWN
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Robyn is out with a fantastic music video for her first single Dancing On My Own (from her upcoming Body Talk album series). The thing I love about Robyn is she’s taken a format of music, the electronic side, and actually made it have emotion. Often with electronic music, the focus is simply on the beats, but with Robyn her lyrics always shine with much attitude and heart.
Robyn announced earlier this year that her new album would actually be a mini-series (3 parts/discs in all). At first, when I heard the news, I thought this was either a bit much or a bit ambitious but after hearing the first single I have no doubts that the project(s) will be neon, heartbreaking, with the attitude driven fierceness that the Swedish singer usually brings to all of her music.

NEW MILEY CYRUS IS FOR THE BIRDS
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Hey y’all, Miley’s got news for ya: she’s no longer a tween wearing a bad wig. She’s a big girl now, who is a full-feathered peacock!
I’m only playing…kinda sorta. I’m a fan of Miley and I have no shame in saying that but when I first watched this video I literally said: WTF? The approach for the video was taken extremely literal as Miley emerges as Avis Cyrus (a diva-like cockatoo). And of course, she’s in a damn cage since the song is Can’t Be Tamed! Get it?! A bird in a cage since the song is about being tamed?! How clever. It’s such a thought-provoking piece of breathtaking art.
NOT.
But what it is though, is pure entertainment. And this is mainstream pop we’re talking about, so thought-provoking can be thrown out the window. The video is fun nonetheless and definitely interesting with great choreography.
What are your thoughts on Miley’s new video? Is it age appropriate? Do you love it? Hate it? Think it should be in a cage hidden in the mountains of Southeast Asia? Sound off!

DISSECTING AGUILERA THROUGH THE LENS OF A RACY NEW MUSIC VIDEO
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

The pint-sized blonde bombshell formerly known as X-tina is back and this time around, she’s definitely not going back to basics.
Aguilera, who adorns more skin than actual clothes in the just-released video for Not Myself Tonight (via Vevo this morning), seems to be back to her roots and they’re definitely black. No bubblegum watered-down pop explosion coming from this diva and proud wife of music executive Jordan Bratman, who claims settling down and becoming a wife and mother has made her more confident in her skin. All I have to say to that is this: I had no clue she was lacking confidence beforehand? Lord, if Aguilera gets any more confident we may have to call for backup. Chick is definitely on fire and out of control yet in charge and in control all at the same time.
Aguilera is a bomb that’s exploded time and time again, leaving the other female pop singers lagging behind in the race as her vocal chords are, without a doubt, #1 in the game. According to Rolling Stone, Aguilera is the only female vocalist under the age of 30 whose voice was good enough to make the magazine’s list of the best voices of all time. And rightfully so, as Aguilera’s chops are undeniable.
My only beef: I wish the landscape of mainstream music would allow a woman to be stripped of all the nonsense of the exterior, to showcase what truly simmers underneath. In my opinion, Beautiful is Aguilera’s best work–a song that became an instant classic with its message of hope, acceptance, love, and compassion bleeding from a girl with multiple piercings, crazy sunless tanner lines, assless chaps, with a messy hairdo that stood on its own, which was a message in itself, backed against the lyrics of the song.
Even though, I am all for freedom of expression, I’ve got to say that my favorite Christina, out of all the personalities she’s tried on over the years, is the sultry, demure, classy one–the one who doesn’t need to show skin or act like a kitten in a video to get attention, for her talent shines without all the excess.
What are your thoughts on another re-invention from Aguilera?

TIMBERLAKE DEALS LOVE TO ESMEE D.
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Timberlake is one slick love dealer.
Not long after BTB was created, one of the first artists I wrote about was Esmee Denters. The former pancake house waitress who captivated the world with nothing but a webcam and her powerful voice had just released her debut music video for Outta Here, after being signed by Justin Timberlake (who, like everyone else, first saw her videos online).
The Dutch-born singer hasn’t been pushed really in America but that could all change now with her new music video for Love Dealer, which features Timberlake doing what he does best: bringin’ sexy back with his coy demeanor and relaxed pop hop (pop + hip hop, def just made that up) vibe.
Speaking of Timberlake, when is that kid going to drop some new music?! It’s obvious that he’s having a good ol’ time producing songs and filling the guest hot spot on other acts’ tracks but it’s been way too long in my book.
Until we get some new fresh solo music from JT, you can check out his muse below in a before and after look at the just-released music video ft. Timberlake.

WHAT A DOLL: PUSSYCAT PLANS TO OPEN MUSIC CAMP FOR THE DISABLED
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Nicole Scherzinger of The Pussycat Dolls is looking to use her talents to give back. Inspired by her aunt, who has Down syndrome, Scherzinger says she wants to open up a music camp for the disabled.
Says Nicole: “I grew up with my aunt who is actually younger than me because my grandmother had her at an older age and she has Down syndrome. She has always had a special place in my heart and is such a wonderful addition to our family. I used to tell my girls in the Pussycat Dolls that I would have my own musical camp or school where I would teach people with special disabilities or Down syndrome.”
Scherzinger hopes her camp will raise awareness of people with Down syndrome. Nicole’s boyfriend, Formula 1 racing champion Lewis Hamilton, has also been inspired by someone in his family as well.
Lewis’ brother Nicolas suffers from Cerebral Palsy and in his autobiography, Lewis wrote: “I only have to think of one person to keep me motivated and put a smile on my face, my brother Nicolas. I often try to imagine myself in Nic’s position. I don’t think I would be anywhere near as strong as him. There’s so much to admire in him. So, whatever I am doing, I say to myself, ‘If you think it’s hard to do this, then think again.’ ”
Lewis has his own charity, the Lewis Hamilton Foundation, which focuses on improving the lives of children and young people in ill health or poverty across the world.

Don’t be bothered if his eyes can’t see your beauty. Dance until you find someone who can.
Robyn announced earlier this year that her new album would actually be a mini-series (3 parts/discs in all). If you’ve ever been in love with someone who took you for a ride, someone who overlooked all you sacrificed, someone who lead you on only to turn you off without a second glance–then this song’s for you.
Does she love you better than I can?
There’s a big black sky over my town
I know where you at, I bet she’s around
Yeah, I know it’s stupid
But I just got to see it for myself
I’m in the corner, watching you kiss her
I’m right over here, why can’t you see me
I’m givin’ it my all, but I’m not the girl you’re takin’ home
I keep dancin’ on my own

AGNES BREAKS UP ON THE DANCEFLOOR
By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

“Even though they can have a deep subject (such as un-returned love in Release Me) I want my songs to inspire people to have fun and dance,” –Agnes // in an interview with Scan Magazine.
At the ripe old age of 17, small-town girl Agnes Carlsson was the youngest contestant to ever win Swedish Idol. Now at 22, after huge success in the UK where she is known simply as Agnes, the pop tart (who says Beyonce is her role model) is planning an international takeover. And judging by her video for her massive hit Release Me, Agnes might have the Leona Lewis-esque vocals to pull it off.
