Ring the alarm! On May 26th, Scandinavian pop heavyweights Robyn + Röyksopp will release a collaborative mini-album entitled Do It Again. And if the lead single (of the same name) is any indication of what to expect, we’re in for something spectacular. But again, not that surprising considering the fact that Robyn is known for crafting some of the most intelligent, infectious, thought-provoking pop of our time.

Robyn and the Norwegian pair will also titillate audiences this summer on the Do It Again tour. Yes, titillate.

Can’t wait!

Listen to the first release below. Hashtag I freakin’ love Robyn!

Sick cover alert!

Up-and-coming London-based girl group Neon Trees have taken on Miley’s skankfest of a single, We Can’t Stop, and totally rocked it.

It’s smooth, less bitter, and more sweet.

Check out the rendition below + the infamous original clip following.

Twerk! Twerk! Twerk!

The random return of Robyn!

Although it’s been three years since the release of her kick ass Body Talk, Robyn has decided to release a conceptual video for U Should Know Better, her collaboration on the album with the one and only Snoop Dogg.
Not only is the video cool and original (something Robyn’s become a poster child for), the video breaks into the topic of gender, as Robyn and Snoop are replaced in the clip by youthful, cross-gender versions of themselves. Robyn is played by a young platinum blonde boy, while Snoop appears as a lanky teen girl with braids.

The video was conceptualized by Robyn and Decida, her longtime stylist and choreographer (who was also responsible for the moves seen in Dancing On My Own).

Decida wrote a press release to accompany the release, saying:

Hopefully the U Should Know Better video sparks some laughs, but also thoughts on what identity really is. Would you be the same person in another context? Does society have certain expectations of a person based on class, gender, colour, sexual orientation, religious beliefs and cultural background? How much do these expectations then affect your so-called self? I kind of like the idea that we grow up in a transnational pop cultural mosh pit were you can choose who you want to be instead. All of this is what our 2FACED1 project is about, to know identity is dependent on context and therefore is something fluid.

Robyn never disappoints! Love it!

BTB favorite, Jessie J, has re-entered the ring. In the Emil Nava-directed clip for new single Wild, the powerhouse takes over a modern white set, belting the track in nothing but heels and underwear. Adorning a shaved skull, Jessie J is later joined by Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal who push the track over the edge.

Big Sean certainly brings the drama in a plush fur coat.

J recently spoke with U.K. radio station Capital FM and mentioned that she’s been working with Calvin Harris and Dr. Luke on the new album. She penned every song with producer Claude Kelly with the exception of the track with Harris, which was written by Ester Dean.

A release date and title is still TBD.

The album’s first single, Wild, is currently available on iTunes.

Katy Tiz, the fresh-faced pop star that brought us the sugarcoated Heart, is now bringing the weekend party with her hot new single for Red Cup.

This is one of those summertime pop songs that makes you want to bob around like an idiot with drink in hand. It’ll make you dance… But of course, what else would one expect when the track comes backed by none other than iconic producer/mega hit-maker RedOne.

Turn on the strobe lights!

This has pool party written all over it.

Unless you live under a rock (well, with this East Coast weather you may be doing it for warmth purposes), you have heard Thrift Shop, the smash from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Wanz. I am not here to review the song, or to illustrate how I throw my fists up whenever I hear it, but simply to get Macklemore on your radar.

FYI: The Thrift Shop video already has over 78 million views on YouTube, and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Macklemore spent years building a fan base in Seattle. Alongside DJ and music director Ryan Lewis, the pair has been established as the faces of Seattle’s hip hop scene. Their DIY-driven music has gone national, thanks to a tireless work ethic and co-signs from rap stars like Mac Miller, Big Sean and Schoolboy Q. I find this so interesting, for working in the business, it’s refreshing to see someone have a number one smash based on that good, old-fashioned theory: hard work.

Macklemore recently told MTV: “We’ve talked to a lot of labels and we talked to some legends in the game in terms of labels. I had some great conversations, but right now, we’re doing it ourselves and that’s what makes the most sense for this project.”

Let’s just say he is far from being a one-hit wonder. The Heist is compacted with hit after hit. I highly recommend you familiarize, for Macklemore is already reaching household name status.

Musicians should take a notes from this guy, and understand that no matter what the critics say, anything can happen once your mind’s set.

Ciara and Future are back at it! Making music, that is. After collaborating on a remix of Ciara’s single Sorry, the pair have just created a brand spankin’ new track entitled Wake Up, No Make-Up.

Are you guys thinking what I’m thinking? As if Ciara ever really needs makeup. I mean, have you seen this bitch’s skin?! I digress…

Co-written by Future and produced by Mike WiLL Made It (Bandz a Make Her Dance), Wake Up, No Make-Up is an edgy, urban banger overflowing with sick beats. Basically, it has Ciara written all over it, and I’m lovin’ it.

Turn it up!

Bathroom stalls, pink pickup trucks, weaves and confetti… In the new music video for Your Body, Christina is one stop from Trannytown, and I love it! I also happen to love the fact that she’s embracing her curves and giving everyone a big FU! Good for her!

These girls deserve an exclamation point!

Imagine if every day was the glitterbomb ending of a Victoria’s Secret runway show. This is just one image that comes to mind when listening to electropop duo Icona Pop.

Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo create pop music laced with sparklers and Pixy Stix. It’s straight-up fun, people!

Time to hit the catwalk! (At least that’s what I pretend to do, blaring this song while walking around Manhattan. Don’t hate!)

It’s so crazy how songs can affect and change your mood on a daily basis. Although I am not much of an R&B follower, Ne-Yo is back with a new single entitled Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself). This track immediately grabbed my ear; not because of the dance beats, the techno takeover, genre, or dancing, but simply because of the positive message it brings. I am absolutely in love with these lyrics!

Let the positive uplifting take over.

Leave it to Madonna to release a music video and change my entire opinion on a song. Just the other day, I was listening to this track thinking about how ridiculously simple it is, and how I would expect more from a person that many label the Queen of Pop. Flash forward to moments after watching the new video, and all my previous f*cking thoughts have gone out the window!

I’m living for this video… It simply works.

Turn Up the Radio is the third single from Madonna’s latest album, MDNA. The video was shot in Florence, Italy and directed by Tom Munro, who also shot M’s Give It 2 Me clip back in 2008.

Oh, and PS! If you’re curious about what the driver says at the end of the video, it translates to dis: “The party’s over now. Buckle [your] belt, b—-!”

Imma little boy crazy lately, so excuse my while I swoon… Ok, I’m good.

Pete Wentz is back, y’all. Yup! With his new band, Black Cards, an EDM project consisting of sick synth-electro-dubstep beats. Basically, it’s gooey pop yumminess. With Wentz holding down the bass/lyrics, and a helping hand from Spencer Peterson on drums, the group has just released an EP titled Use Your Disillusion.

The track you’re about to hear is End of Pretend, a dancefloor banger that feels kerosene soaked. That’s code for “It’s fire, people.”

Singer Matthew Koma completes the track’s package, tackling Wentz’s recognizable vocals with ease.

The EP is out today (July 17th)!

Listen to the fierce, slick beats below.

Black Cards’ End of Pretend, an obvious contender for song of the summer.

ROB BRAYL: The new single ‘Major’ is instant crack. Totally infectious and addictive. I’m sure creating jams that get into a listener’s headspace must be a fun process?

LARS of ASTEROIDS GALAXY TOUR: It is. It’s what we do best and it keeps us inspired to make new music all the time.

RB: I know this question is overplayed, but I’m really interested in inspirations and influences.

AGT: 70s funk, 90s hip-hop, alternative dance, soul, rock’n’roll, psychedelic sounds and outer space! Names that comes to mind are: early Beck, Primal Scream, Beastie Boys, Curtis Mayfield, Blaxploitation soundtracks, Duke Ellington…

RB: Last album purchased.

AGT: Jay-Z & Kanye West: ‘Watch The Throne’

RB: The album ‘Out Of Frequency’ has been out a few months now. Can you give us the rundown?

AGT: It’s been six months of intensive touring, and so far it doesn’t look like it’s ever gonna end. Later this year we’ll do another round in the States. Before that we’ll be touring in France, Denmark, Brazil… Venues are packed no matter where we go, so I take that as a good sign of how the album goes.

RB: Any plans to hit our territory in NYC or the States?

AGT: Yes, as said above we’ll be hitting the US later this year. October it is. It will be a similar tour to the one we did in January/February this year, meaning we’ll hit both East and West Coast, plus we’ll be doing a good handful of the main cities between the coasts. We will also visit Canada! We love touring the States. Absolute favorite “territory”!

RB: If The Asteroids Galaxy Tour was an edible dish, what might our tastebuds experience?

AGT: Your tastebuds would be burned… Both Mette and I are mad chili lovers so it would be an extremely spicy dish for sure! We often give each other chili presents that we bought on vacations in Thailand or Mexico for example.

RB: Have you determined the next single from the upcoming release? Will a video be shot?

AGT: We thought of releasing the title track ‘Out Of Frequency’ as the next single. It shows a different side of The Asteroids and it’s a favorite in the live set. Don’t know about video yet.

RB: What’s the driving force that pushes you guys to make awesome music?

AGT: The idea of affecting peoples minds and moods (and feet!) is an addictive one, and it’s definitely a driving force here.

RB: Let’s end this with something random. Give us something good!

AGT: All The Dude ever wanted was his rug back…

For all you blokes that don’t live in the UK, Olly Murs has been blowing up overseas ever since he finished as a runner-up on the British version of X Factor awhile back.

Now, the Essex singer/songwriter is preparing for an American takeover with the upcoming release of his US debut album, In Case You Didn’t Know (set to drop September 25th). The disc will feature the track you’re about to hear — the super fun, crack-laced Heart Skips A Beat, featuring our boys from Chiddy Bang.

He’s rather adorable, I gotta say… And the track is undeniably catchy.

Here’s to finding your spot in America, Olly.

i-D online recently spoke to pop singer Cheryl Cole and confirmed her love for two things: Beyonce and men with tattoos.

Said the beautiful Miss Cole: “I love Beyonce. I just think she’s such a beautiful person inside and out. Aside from what she does on stage — which is just incredible — I like her as a woman. She’s empowering.”

The UK pop starlet also spoke on how she’s attracted to men with ink: “It’s like body art, and I think it’s reflective of somebody’s personality. I don’t know what it is. I’m always attracted to people with body art.”

Um, hello! We’re practically the same person!

Saucy new track Make You Go, available on A Million Lights – Super Deluxe Edition, out today in the UK! + the above-mentioned interview following.
