CLUB BREEZY – ‘TURN UP THE MUSIC’

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Chris Brown has dropped his first single off his much anticipated new record, Fortune, and the track definitely bangs the club. Properly labeled Turn Up The Music, the release is an infectious party jam that demands us to crank the volume, bitch!

Written and produced by The Underdogs (the pair that brought us Breezy’s sexy Take You Down), Turn Up The Music is heavily influenced by synth and electro jungle beats; comfortably at home in the center of the dancefloor.

For making this God-awful video! This is just a pain to watch. The song is definitely not her best effort either. It sorta sucks balls. Sorry for the college frat boy review, but seriously, my brain is fried after watching this shiz.

On the plus side…

Actually, there isn’t a plus side.

Watch at your own risk, suckas!

KDREW’S SH*T IS INFECTIOUS

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

To be blunt: KDrew’s sh*t is infectious. It’s the type of sugary pop that gets stuck upon first spin and tosses and turns in your head while you sleep at night. And the new track One is no different.

In the just-released video for the song, the Jersey gangsta finds himself careening through the streets of New York City on his final night of life; a life that doesn’t seem to invoke much stress besides making sure his pretty girlfriend doesn’t lose her marbles (since the world is ending and all that jazz). Just a typical Saturday night in the city, really. Y’all know how bitches be dramatic!

Anywho, the song is taken from KDrew’s Free Volume 2 EP. So far, KDrew has released three self-produced EP’s, all infectious as crap (I can’t say this enough, so repeating it here), showcasing his talent as a singer/songwriter/producer.

Check it!

TGIF, betches.

Oh! And while you’re at it, check out my interview with KDrew HERE.

B.o.B / ANDRE 3000 YUMMY GOODNESS

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

This is my jam!!!

Before B.o.B exploded all over radio, back in the early mixtape days, the rapper drew comparisons to hip hop prodigy Andre 3000 — and finally, on B.o.B’s latest single, Play the Guitar, you can hear the two forces collide.

Sampling Bob Marley’s 1973 classic I Shot the Sheriff and T.I.’s verse on Drake’s Fancy, the rambunctious track (produced by Salaam Remi) is pure gold. The song was recently released on iTunes and is the next single off of Bobby Ray’s upcoming Strange Clouds LP.

And to finalize the glory of this tune, while keeping it brief: 3000 got a big ol’ rap d*ck. (Listen to the song, people. Only then will this make sense!)

Play. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

FREE KDREW!

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Today marks BTB’s thousandth (yes, thousandth!) post! So to celebrate, I thought it felt necessary to post something that would mesh with what inspired the site’s creation to begin with, and that is shining the spotlight on quality independent artists.

Also, since it’s a mini celebration, it kinda helps when there’s free music involved…

Sexy Jersey pop prodigy, KDrew, has dropped his Free Volume 2 EP for FREE mp3 download. The second of seven consecutive self-produced EP’s, Free Volumes 1-7 presents KDrew’s swagger as singer/songwriter, producer, and performer.

He will be releasing five more EP’s on the first of each month through May 1st of 2012.

His music is like Pringles… once you pop! Lame description but whatevs.

Freakin’ love some KDrew!

Oh yeah, check out my exclusive interview with the dude himself, HERE.

I throw on my cowboy hat, lace bodysuit, and kick it Shania Twain style. (That’s a joke, people. I don’t own a cowboy hat.)

Speaking of, I’m gonna need a new Shania album STAT!

Someone get on that.

HAPPY BLOATED 30TH B-DAY, BRITNEY!

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Bloated/belated. Same thing?

Yeah, so I’m late. Don’t point it out. It’s rude.

My laptop cord/charger thingy decided to be a little tw*t and died on me. So I couldn’t post this birthday message on time. Oh! The horror!

Anyways…

Just because we’re both Southern, blonde (from a box counts — but then again, I haven’t been blonde since college, oh well…) and like tater tots — I have to wish Britney Spears a big fat HAPPY BIRTHDAY! There’s a million reasons why we love you, Britney. Don’t you dare to forget it!

Cheers to the freakin’ weekend!

The #FreeMusic campaign, featuring YungNate & El Prez, have dropped a video for single Hands Up High, taken from their forthcoming EP. The album will consist of new material + previously recorded collaborations.

As usual, we here at BTB are proud to support real independent music. And personally, this video is fun and catchy as all get out! Get into it!

ANJULIE – ‘STAND BEHIND THE MUSIC’

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

“This song is about standing up for whatever it is you believe in. For me it’s music. For a lot of the people in this video, it’s freedom. Freedom of equal rights, of religion, of peace or of speech. I went to the protests downtown LA and watched the footage online of similar protests around the world and it inspired me. As an artist navigating your way through the music industry there are so many things standing in your way. Time and time again I have had to fight for the things I believe in. When I first moved to New York from Toronto I would play guitar and sing in lobbies of record companies, on the streets and in subways. Little did I know getting signed was just the beginning. Since then I have been pushing for everything from the music I want to making the artwork on this single, to keeping this song on my album. These videos struck a chord with me because the passion I saw resonated with my own. No matter how big or small the cause, passion is passion. I am in no way promoting anarchy or violence. I’m simply in awe of the human spirit and the lengths people will go to stand up for they believe in… stand behind the music.”

–Anjulie

Stand Behind The Music is available on iTunes on December 13th.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: KDREW

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

ROB BRAYL: Ok, first things first. That shirtless pic of you in the Yankee’s hat has an old skool Marky Mark Calvin Klein vibe going on. How would you describe yourself, sound and image for those unaware?

KDREW: That picture shows more of the fitness side of me which played a huge role in my life. But on the other hand I guess my image is a little more rock when I’m fully clothed. [Laughs] I have a ton of sides to me, which definitely translates to my music.

RB: I understand that, like Lil Wayne, you tend to swing it in the studio? Do you always go in to record without lyrics in mind?

KD: Pretty much. I like to get caught up in the moment whenever I’m making a track. I never say, “Hey, you have to go into the studio at 1:15 and write a ballad about unicorns and fairy dust.” [Laughs] Sometimes it will be 4 in the morning and I’ll feel like making a dubstep record. So I just break out my laptop and start working. I guess I just go with the flow.

RB: I’ve gotta say that I love your music — it’s got a very commercial appeal that I think will go far. Has radio been supportive? I know radio can be a bitch to break.

KD: Thank you very much. Some stations have definitely been supportive and to this day still are. The other ones that haven’t jumped on my music yet hopefully will in the near future. But as hard as radio is, it’s just one piece to the puzzle. Sometimes people make it their number one priority to get on it. You gotta just make music for yourself and fans, everything else will come after that.

RB: Last album you purchased.

KD: ‘Mylo Xyloto’ by Coldplay.

RB: I see that you’re a huge Michael Jackson fan (join the club!). Was he your first inspiration for starting music? Also, can you moonwalk? Just curious!

KD: Michael was definitely one of the many influences I had growing up. I was raised around all different types and styles so I hope people can really hear that in my music. Every once in a while when I go to the store I’ll moonwalk there. Great cardio.

RB: How sad are you that Justin Timberlake hasn’t recorded a new album in 5 years? Your stuff is right up his alley BTW.

KD: I wouldn’t say sad. I would say more eager to hear what he’s been conjuring up in the studio. Whenever he comes out, his music becomes a style. So I understand as an artist why he hasn’t put anything out. He’s smart though for waiting.

RB: Any new projects you’re currently working on? Upcoming shows?

KD: I’m always working on new projects so you never know when you might be hearing a record I wrote or produced. Currently I’m working with a hip hop artist who’s really dope. Also I’m trying to get a bunch of my dubstep and house records finished so I can put them out. Show-wise I’m sporadically doing them all over the country. But soon I really wanna sit down and plan a tour or even hop on someone else’s.

RB: This might be a tough one, but what’s your favorite track you’ve ever recorded?

KD: Truthfully, every song I do is probably my favorite. I put so much time and energy into each one that to say I have a favorite would be unfair to the rest of my songs!

RB: Finally, thanks for talking to me, yo! Give us something random to end this interview on.

KD: Thank you for having me and I like turtles. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are great and I want to go skydiving.

NY rapper Outasight is out with the music video for his debut single Tonight Is The Night. The energetic track is currently being featured in Pepsi’s “Who’s Next” campaign, which will later feature the winner of The X Factor.

Directed by Dori Oskowitz, the video depicts Outasight smack dab in the middle of a crazy night out in New York City. What what!

This track is undeniably fun!

KIM KARDASHIAN FEAT. THE CATARACS

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Breaking news: Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) the Kardashian family does is for press and money and fame. Sex tape leaked by Kim herself (sad), fake marriage (sad), and now fake divorce. Hollywood is a really desperate and depressing place for some when you really dissect it. I guess this is what you have to do if your talent is knowing how to send a tweet. Young girls need better images of beauty and self worth.

PS: How SEXY are The Cataracs?!

PPS: Song felt appropriate! Obvi.

BLACK KEYS DROP ‘LONELY BOY’ VIDEO

By: Maria Ciezak
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

BTB favorites, The Black Keys, have dropped their amazing lead single and even more amazing lead video for Lonely Boy, off of their upcoming El Camino release. For those who no hablo espanol, that would translate to “The Road”. The album is due out in stores on December 6th.

Simply put, I adore this track. It’s tremendously catchy, but also nonchalantly harmonious and misleadingly compound.

Check it.
