NEWLY LEAKED JOJO – ‘LIMBO’ AKA PREPARE TO BE BLOWN

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

With perhaps the exception of Jessie J, the newly leaked Limbo by JoJo proves that the 20-year-old singer’s voice is better than any female singer on mainstream radio. This track is fire! Explosive, blue-hot fire.

Currently, the Too Little Too Late singer is revving up for a future release of new album Jumping Trains. The maturity, control, and overall aesthetic of this track is pure pop perfection. It’s stunning.

And for the record, I need to vent:

IF I DON’T GET A NEW JOJO ALBUM ASAP, I’M GOING TO GO POSTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, got a little excited there.

Check out the incredible Limbo below to see what all the fuss’s about.

ALMOST THERE – ‘I CRIED WOLF’ VID

By: Maria Ciezak
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

BTB local favorites, Almost There, are back with some new music, and even bigger news! Zach, Ed, and Phill would like to share it with the world themselves:

“We are happy to announce we are returning to the recording studio August 21st to start recording our first full length album. We’ll be recording at Overlook Studios in Warminster, PA with producer Bruce Wiegner, former member of Victory In Numbers (Bullet Tooth Records). The track list will include 8-10 new songs as well as some re-records of a couple older tracks, a cover song, and even some bonus tracks. We’ve been working hard all spring writing and demo-ing the new songs and we feel these are easily and by far our best works to date. We are already planning a CD release show this fall as well as a tour to support the album. Details on the release show and tour will be released soon!”

Enjoy.

MAT KEARNEY IS NO LONGER SINGLE, DAMMIT + NEW ‘HEY MAMA’ MUSIC VID

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Tennessee based cutie pie/musician Mat Kearney just recently dropped a new single entitled Hey Mama, from his forthcoming Young Love album.

From Mat himself:

“It’s been an amazing year for me personally, spiritually, and creatively. I finished my new record, “Young Love”, signed with a new record label…oh, and met and married the woman of my dreams. We exchanged vows under a canopy of southern weeping willows on a blazing June evening. It was amazing.

I wrote “Hey Mama” about that first day we met between the shoe table and the dress rack. The chorus popped into my head driving home one night. I recorded some hand claps & a big bass drum and wrote the rest dancing around my living room that night. I hope you feel some of the butterflies.”

Well, ain’t that just sweet.

Congrats, buddy!

She’s so purty!

[I’m definitely in love with Mat’s music. That’s one relationship I highly doubt will ever break!]

THANKS FOR THE B-DAY GIFT, BEYONCE

Beyonce’s new album 4 drops today!

Yup, today is my birthday. It’s a sign!

If you have not heard the record, get on it. The album is Beyonce’s bottle of wine, polished in a mature and chill way that’s never been showcased on previous efforts.

Rolling Stone said it best:

“Beyonce’s new album 4 is a change of pace for the R&B queen. While her first three solo albums were full of blockbuster jams, 4 is a more relaxed, personal set that emphasizes ballads over bangers and showcases the singer’s nuances; it’s very much the sort of album a pop star makes when she doesn’t feel like she has anything to prove.”

Watch a recent performance below.

*Note: This is a clip from BK’s recent Glastonbury show that aired on BET.

As usual, she murders.

PEACOCK PRIDE

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

While I’m in the country (on a little vacay from the Big Apple) eating Moon Pies and avoiding Walmart like the plague, yesterday I kept getting texts from everyone about all the cool things they were doing for Pride in the city, one who practically did the boot scootin’ boogie with Mz. Katy Perry, who just randomly popped up.

Random popping up, somewhat like this dude, I’d imagine!

Anyways, I hate you all!

You know who you are!

Happy Pride + Love + Equality for all.

BREAKING DOWN WALLS W/ RIVAL SONS

By: Maria Ciezak
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

I always scope out the free song of the week on iTunes, sometimes finding myself disappointed, while other times finding myself in the middle of a cost-less revolution. This week, Rival Sons’ track Pressure and Time, taken from their debut album (due July 26th via Earache Records), blew me out of my seat.

This supreme-machine rock quartet from L.A. is providing the music world with something ferocious. They are breaking down walls with an across-the-board retro sounding, funk reeling, ass shaking style. Not to forget the vocals are so raw and untouched, while still being irate and thick; it’s a great balance.

Keep Rival Sons of your list of artists to watch.

Do yourself a favor and go get this track, for sometimes the best things in life are free.

NEW ENRIQUE IS A TOTAL SLUT MOBILE

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Let’s glorify strippers, shall we?

Honestly, has Enrique ran out of ideas? I recall a time when his music actually meant something. Granted, it wasn’t anything incredibly life-changing but there was depth and meaning there. And he often sang of love and heartache. Lately, all his songs are about ho-ing it up hardcore.

The beats are addictive and so you’ll find me bobbin’ my head to it like any other unsuspecting target. I’ll admit that it’s a fun catchy song…

But seriously, Enrique — step up yo game! Can your next song not be about clubs, strippers, cheating on your girlfriend, or anything related to the Jersey Shore? PUHLEASE? I need a Rhythm Divine part deux pronto!

Enrique’s admitted to a love of porn in the past, and clearly it’s affecting his music!

Someone get that kid a parental guard for his laptop. Kthanks.

Anyone with eyes can see he’s a sexy thang. Alls I’m saying (yes, alls) is that I kinda miss the lovesick, broken-hearted, passionate Latino lover version of Enrique. This just seems too try-hard/college-douchey.

Is it just me? Or does anyone else miss the old Enrique?

NO WITNESS: ONE HELLUVA LOCAL BAND

By: Caitlin Hoffman
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

No Witness leaves no man behind! Local bands with a bang-up ensemble are hard to come by, so I consider myself lucky. These three flesh-winding maniacs hail from my very own Edmonton, Alberta. I like a trio that has moves on the stage and a rocket launch affect on your electrodes. These guys give it all without anticipating a thing in return. Punk is always delivered best with a raw edge, and theirs is one with jagged material. What’s more, we all know an anti-establishment genre shines when the band in question gives it their own unique pinch. Plus, they’re pure indie and self-managed, making them the epitome of what punk rock should be.

Do be a darling and check out their Myspace and treat yourself to red-hot tracks like Dirty Suds and Grounded.

For now, dig the action in their music video for M.O.O.B. The song is all instrumentals, but the vid does good for a laugh.

‘IN THE DARK I SEE’ LIGHTS — SEE WHAT I DID THERE? GOD, I’M GOOD!

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Ok, so, if you follow this bloggy (which I assume you do, if not, get on that pronto, butthole), then you would know that I’ve always had an itsy bitsy teeny weeny hole in my heart that belongs to Lights. Tiny because honestly, that’s all she needs. She’s like a toy doll. But real and stuff. Almost kinda anime-ish, but you know what I’m saying!

Back to the point…

Lights creates original pieces of music that clearly come from the heart. In one listen, it’s apparent that she’s more than a quirky girl with a guitar, she’s a quirky girl with a guitar and a fractured wonderland of a soul.

In her latest vlog, the 24-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter performs a new song, a gem by the name of In The Dark I See.

Check out the new tune + another beautiful acoustic Lights jam following.

Love her!

KELLY ROWLAND FT. BIG SEAN IN THE FEEL GOOD SONG OF THE WEEK-IZZLE

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Currently on one massive repeat binge!

If there’s one thing Kelly Rowland’s good at, it’s collaboration. And that’s a good thing! Some of her best material has been created in the presence of other like-minded dope dealers (not that kind of dope, people). Most recently with Lil Wayne on the sexy R&B tinged track, Motivation. And who could forget, oh you know, Destiny’s Child. Oh! Oh! And Nelly. I mean, hello.

Rumored to be the second single from her much anticipated third studio album, Here I Am, Kelly’s Lay It On Me leaked onto the web recently. Featuring Big Sean and produced by Hit-Boy, Lay It On Me comes noddin’ through the speakers with the vibe of a sexy summer romance.

Yup, crushin’ on this song big time!

Kelly’s upcoming Here I Am album is slated for a July 26th release date.

GYM CLASS HEROES FT. ADAM LEVINE

By: Maria Ciezak
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

We’ve heard lots from Travie McCoy in the past year, but the rest of the Gym Class Heroes conglomerate remained silent, until now. The boys are back with a vengeance and ready to tear up the road this summer with new music, including the recently released single for Stereo Hearts, featuring Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine. Truthfully, I feel this will be a radio smash of the summer, for it’s catchy as hell, and the combination of meaningful lyrics and rhythm make for instant fun. It’s a lot more poppy than what Gym Class fans are used to, but not in a bad way. A song with a perfect recipe containing just the right amount of tart and hip hop without being overdone.

Good meaning, good music, good vibrations all around.

Can’t wait to hear the rest of The Papercut Chronicles II.

Not gonna lie, when I first saw this video I immediately thought of Bring It On. He has to be a male cheerleader, right? Am I right?! Dude’s brangin’ it hard (yes, brang — get into it).

Hottie homeslice for sure.

HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY TO YA, TUPAC

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

“If you saw a rose growing out of concrete even if it had messed up petals and was a little to the side, you would marvel at just seeing a rose growing through concrete. So why is it when you see some ghetto kid that grows out of the dirtiest circumstances, and he can talk and sit across from you and make you smile, make you cry, make you laugh, all you can talk about is my dirty rose, my dirty stem, and how I’m leaning crooked to the side? You can’t even see that I came out of that shit.”

LOOK AT ME, I’M CUTE! FT. CHARICE

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Cuteness coma!

Earlier this week, I had heard some rumble over Charice deleting her Facebook account. Apparently it was due to the fact that some haters were throwing around the “F” word on her page, spreading negativity. And no, I don’t mean that “F” word. I mean this one — three letters, also spelled with a PH. Yep, FAT.

Honestly, myself and BTB as a whole, we really don’t care about that. Why? Because all that matters is what happens when Charice hits the stage, and rips it to shreds with her ferocious vocal ability.

The only fat thing about Charice is her raw talent and her adorability factor. Those things combined are pretty obese! I think I can speak for the majority of the population (at least those with workable eyes and unclogged ears) when I say that Charice, honey, you’re all that and a bag of chips! (Do people still say this? Oh well, I just did!)

And listen, not to get all Bruno Mars-y but you’re beautiful…just the way you are!

Check out the new lyric video for Louder + one of my favorite Charice performances (covering Beyonce’s Halo) following.
