CUTE LIL’ BOOGER: DAVID ARCHULETA IN NEW ‘SOMETHING ‘BOUT LOVE’ VID

When David Archuleta dropped his new single, I initially called it a bit too sugar blasted. But now, after seeing the new music video for the track, it brings the song to a different perspective for me. In my opinion, the video takes the initial bubblegum reaction and tones it down a notch, as Archuleta gives the song a bit of a melancholy vibe in the clip. Melancholy might not be the best fitting word, as the song is still a p. diddy (positive diddy, people…it’ll catch on!), but there is definitely a longing brewing behind Archuleta’s eyes in the video, directed by Declan Whitebloom (he also directed Crush back in 2008).
That something deeper is what I wish he would explore and play with more (refer to the track Desperate from his debut album). Perhaps David’s life hasn’t always been all smiles and cakewalks? Either way, I think this video is a simple (yet great pop) video, sure to appeal to Archuleta’s commercial fanbase.

I didnt like the song at first but it really grew on me and the video makes it even better
not sure I see him in the same light as a cute booger I want to pick lol but I do like the songs he releases. I loved crush.

The video helps to illuminate the lyrics and show that the song’s meaning runs a lot deeper than bubblegum.
