CHICKS CHICKS CHICKS

I just like saying chicks…
The other day, as I was walking through the streets of New York, I got the urge to listen to some Southern fire. Immediately, I thought of the Dixie Chicks. A song came to mind, the bittersweet Voice Inside My Head, and I decided to give it a go, even when I knew it would remind me of someone I didn’t need to be reminded of…AND THE SUMMER THAT WOULD CHANGE OUR LIVES FOREVER (movie trailer voice-over). That was a joke, get it?! Eh, whatever.
And it hit me hard–it’s about damn time for a new DC record! Where are those peeps? Speaking of Peeps, I feel like the Dixie Chicks are very peep-like, coming around once in a blue moon (if we’re lucky), leaving us with cravings for their sugar when they depart.
In the meantime though, I have a taste of something pretty for you to hold you over. It’s not whiskey coated or belted in a brassy twang like Maines but this cover is, by far, the best cover I’ve ever heard of a song by the Chicks. It’s gorgeous.
Check out EQ (AKA The Womack Sisters) singing Voice Inside My Head by the Dixie Chicks, below.

Where are the Dixie Chicks?! They need a new album out NOW.
