APOLLO MOURNS/CELEBRATES LIFE OF MICHAEL JACKSON

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

This past weekend I visited the site of the Apollo Theatre in Harlem to join thousands in a celebration of Michael Jackson’s life. The experience was incredible, a severe adrenaline rush.

Many have asked my favorite work by Michael and I am often surprised at how many people are unaware of this single/video.

One of my favorite jams by the King of Pop is IN THE CLOSET, the seductive video directed by famed photographer Herb Ritts.

“Only Jackson would use that title for a heterosexual love song…”
-The New York Times

“Titillatingly titled” but “determinedly heterosexual.”
-Rolling Stone

Check out IN THE CLOSET as well as SCREAM (another amazing visual feast by the legend below)

PICS & VIDEO from the Apollo to follow shortly.

PETE WENTZ + JONAS = BIRTHDAY WEEKEND (IN A COMA)

By: Rob Brayl

This past weekend was my birthday and needless to say it was rather epic (“in a coma”) as one friend managed to say at the end of every sentence.

I’d be lying if I didn’t dance to this remix of the Jonas while getting ready to go to Pete Wentz’s bar Angels & Kings (www.angelsandkings.com) for my birthday party.

MORE PICS TO FOLLOW!

Thank you all for the incredible love and support and sorry for the lack of updates. Check out the better than original remix of PARANOID by Jonas Brothers below and imagine me in a towel jammin out to this song. [Sorry for the disturbing mental image yall]

Check out the just released video for Lily Allen’s new single.

Look inside your tiny mind
Now look a bit harder
Cause we’re so uninspired
So sick and tired of all the hatred you harbor

So you say
It’s not okay to be gay
Well I think you’re just evil
You’re just some racist who can’t tie my laces
Your point of view is midieval

F**k you
F**k you very, very much
Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So please don’t stay in touch

The Climb” by Miley Cyrus is my jam right now. (There should never be guilt in pleasure.)

I SAW KELIS TODAY…

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

She was pregnant and had blue streaks in her hair and was wearing polka dots. True story.

Most of the world knows KELIS as the one who brought all the boys to the yard (ya know, the MILKSHAKE song) but there’s also a sensitive side to the usually outrageous singer. Check out the unreleased GOODBYES below.

“Oh you kids these days. I can’t tell which one is a hipster and which one’s a hobo. You’re all wearing beards, plaid, and riding a bike.”

Carolina Liar’s 2008 debut album Coming to Terms was produced by powerhouse Swedish producer Max Martin (P!nk, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson) and features the empowering God infused track SHOW ME WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR, which resonates to anyone who has ever been on the search for the meaningful substance of life.

Signed to Kanye West’s DJ’s (A-Trak) label comes KID SISTER, a rap artist from the school of hard knocks who survived growing up poor in Chicago, Illinois.

‘NO AIR’ COVER

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

RISSI PALMER , one of the only African-American singers in the genre of country music has recorded a cover to Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown’s worldwide smash NO AIR and I’ve got to say, it’s a damn good makeover.

Palmer debuted in 2007 with the single “Country Girl”, which made her the first African-American woman to chart a country song since Dona Mason in 1987.

Check out the video (that will make you want to board a jet to Maui) for NO AIR below.

BREAKING NEWS: OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE POP STARS TOO!

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Isn’t it funny how you discover a band only to find out they’ve been around for a decade and just broke up? Yes my friends, other countries have pop stars too.

The Dutch band KREZIP has been on the airwaves in The Netherlands for years (a decade to be exact) and until recently managed to escape my eardrums.

Enjoy the act’s farewell track (Sweet Goodbyes) below.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE SCRIPT

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Filled with substance and meaning THE SCRIPT is everything I love in a band. The pop/rock group (from Dublin, Ireland) released their multiplatinum debut last year in the UK, and my only question is: When will The Script makeover US radio with their sonic beauty?

Check out the visually stunning video for the band’s single BREAKEVEN below.

ON HEAVY ROTATION: ‘ENERGY’ by KERI HILSON

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Someone explain to me why this single was not very successful in America? It’s 100x better than some of her bigger hits, including the single KNOCK YOU DOWN featuring the KING OF DOUCHE–Kanye West.

Check out the sexy heartbreak driven ENERGY below.
