WINEHOUSE + SODA SHOP JUKE BOX – CRACK = VV BROWN

By: Rob Brayl

Describing her sound as “musical mashed potatoes” is VV Brown, a London based artist who definitely has a sound all her own. Her debut is inspired by the 1950’s infused with electronic music and the sounds of Gameboy and Nintendo. Uhhh for realz?! No lie, sounds from these two glorious gadgets were emitted and recorded on VV’s tracks.

Under the alias “geeki”, Brown is also an established songwriter coining jams for artists such as the Sugababes and The Pussycat Dolls.

DIDO BRINGS BEAUTIFUL BACK

Dido’s back with her third disc of work, SAFE TRIP HOME. Check out the always poetic songbird’s track THE DAY BEFORE THE DAY below reminding us to not hold our tongues when it comes to love.

Speeches won’t be made today, clocks will carry on
Flowers won’t be left in parks, work will still be done
People won’t be dressed in black, babies will be born
No flags will fly, the sun will rise,
But we will know that you are gone

You who love to love and believed we can never give enough

It wakes me every single night, thinking through the day
Did you stop at any time, have doubts at any stage?
And were you calm or were you numb? Or happy just to get it done?
I’ve lived my life without regret until today

And you who love to love and believed we can never give enough

I didn’t get to say goodbye the day before the day
Was trying to get to work on time, that’s why I turned away
And missed the most important thing you ever tried to say
I’ve lived my life without regret until today

WELCOME TO HEARTBREAK

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

Word on the street is there’s an epidemic being spread by none other than hip hop superdivo Kanye West…it’s called blatant arrogance. Symptons are said to be: total doucheyness with a faint degree of I THINK I’M THE SHIZZ.

On a more positive note, his lyrics and killer visuals in his latest music video will make you forget about his bad behavior for a moment.

Check out the meaningful, WELCOME TO HEARTBREAK below.

ENRIQUE & CIARA HEADBANG

By: Rob Brayl

If there’s one thing I can say about Enrique Iglesias, it’s that he’s found a formula that works and sticks to it. Seeing him whine and brood and tug at that tiny tee of his while tangling with some gorgeous doll– it never gets old does it? This time the doll, Ciara, happens to be unexpected, at least in my book. CIARA?! REALLY?! But she doesn’t look like a Bratz doll?! I never would’ve expected a collaboration between these two.

This video, directed by Ray Kay is killer!!! Ciara looks better in this video than any video previously—a black version of Lindsay Lohan with stick jeans and a wife beater with long lingering waves of hair perfect for my favorite shot in the film, the headbanging near the end. ROCK ON WITH YO BAD SELF C!

I dig completely.

LILY ALLEN MAY BE A MESS BUT HER MUSIC ISN’T

By: Rob Brayl
For BiggerThanBeyonce.Com

She may have gotten carried out of a club — wasted and flung over her father’s shoulders — but with her new album, IT‘S NOT ME IT’S YOU, Lily Allen proves that there’s another reason (besides the pathetic paparazzi jabs for attention) why we know her name — her talent.

The best track in my opinion, by a landslide, is I COULD SAY, a tender ballad that tastes of awakening after heartbreak. I think, underneath every mess of a person lies a soul, and even if Lily Allen has a hard time exposing that soul outside the walls of her music, she definitely makes up for it inside those same walls creating wallpaper with a color of hypnosis that you can’t help but to fall into her trance.

Since you’ve gone I’ve lost a chip on my shoulder,
Since you’ve gone I feel like I’ve gotten older,
And now you’ve gone it feels as if the whole wide world is my stage
And now you’ve gone it’s like I’ve been let out of my cage
